Important guidelines for practice, conduct, and participation during the blessing ceremonies

Essential Guidelines

Before You Attend

Please familiarize yourself with these important guidelines for a smooth and respectful experience

Dress Code

Wear modest, respectful attire. Traditional Bhutanese dress (Gho/Kira) is encouraged but not mandatory. Avoid shorts and sleeveless tops.

Punctuality

Arrive at least 30 minutes before scheduled ceremonies. Late entry may be restricted once ceremonies begin.

Mobile Phones

Turn off mobile phones or set to silent mode. Photography may be restricted during ceremonies - follow announcements.

Footwear

Remove shoes before entering the ceremony hall. Keep footwear in designated areas and bring clean socks if needed.

Food & Drink

No food or drinks inside the ceremony hall. Water stations are available outside. Light refreshments may be provided during breaks.

Respectful Conduct

Maintain silence and reverence inside the hall. Follow volunteer guidance and respect the sacred nature of the ceremonies.

During the Ceremonies

The ceremonies are sacred occasions requiring mindfulness and respect. Your attention and reverence contribute to the positive atmosphere for all participants.

Seating Etiquette

Sit quietly in designated areas. Avoid pointing feet towards the altar or teachers. Cross-legged or kneeling posture is traditional.

Receiving Blessings

When receiving blessings, approach respectfully with hands in prayer position. Follow the guidance of monastics and volunteers.

Offerings

If making offerings, present them at designated areas before ceremonies. Follow the traditional method of offering with both hands.

Leaving Early

If you must leave during a ceremony, do so quietly and discreetly. Wait for natural breaks when possible.

Important health and safety information for all participants

Medical Aid

A medical post is available at the venue. Inform volunteers if you have health concerns or require special assistance.

Hydration

Stay hydrated, especially during long ceremonies. Bring a water bottle and use designated water stations.

Weather Preparedness

Bring appropriate clothing for varying weather. The venue may be cool in mornings and warm during afternoons.

What to Bring

Recommended Items

Being prepared helps you focus on the ceremonies without distractions. Keep belongings minimal and secure.

Personal Items

Water bottle, medication if needed, small cushion or mat for seating comfort, warm shawl or jacket.

Practice Materials

Prayer beads (mala), practice texts if you have them. These may also be available at the venue.

Identification

Carry ID and any registration confirmation. This helps with entry and emergency situations.
